Ryan Moore & Moore Creative
Why did you start working with DNN?
Back in 2002 we were starting a project to rebuild our custom-made Classic ASP content management system which we had created and used in several projects. A colleague mentioned that we should check out this new version of a thing called DotNetNuke CMS. We dug in, made tests and reviewed the setup, especially with the core elements for Roles and permissions, file management, page management and design and knew that it was 100% what we strove to accomplish. We rolled it out 2 months later for our first DNN project and have never since found another system which rivals DNN for our development projects!
What is DNN to you?
DNN is our preferred Application Development Platform. There is no question or need which a client brings us in a project which we cannot build within DNN. DNN is the perfect system for us to build upon for custom solutions in client projects.
What made you stick with DNN?
Having worked within different communities of CMS systems, from Mambo/Joomla, PHProjekt, SiteCore, Umbraco, and of course, including WordPress, I had never encountered before such a welcoming, helpful community of developers and community members using a platform together and helping each other with training, support and camaraderie. Ignoring all of the other completely sound technical reasons to continue using DNN for projects for the far foreseeable future, the DNN Community of users and developers is 100% reason to stick with DNN.
Do you believe it to be a secure option in the CMS market?
DNN - Chosen by the US Department of Defense! Yes, DNN is a secure CMS within the ASP.NET environment. But don't just take our word for it... In 2012, DNN was chosen as the official CMS platform by the US Department of Defense for all public-facing websites. Today, those sites include the official websites for the Department of Defense (www.defense.gov) the U.S. Air Force (www.af.mil), the U.S. Navy (www.navy.mil), the U.S. Marine Corps (www.marines.mil), and the Joint Chiefs of Staff (www.jcs.mil) With over 4.5 million visitors per week, the DoD sites under DoD oversight are some of the most popular government sites on the internet.
